Second opinion & consultation

Sometimes feeding problems persist despite previous guidance or treatment. Parents often have already been through a long journey with hospital admissions, tube feeding, reflux issues, or multiple caregivers.

A second opinion does not mean that previous guidance was “wrong.” However, a fresh perspective can help make patterns of stress, tension, or interaction around feeding more visible.

Complex feeding issues
Premature babies • reflux • tube feeding

When can consultation be useful?

  • a baby continues to refuse the bottle despite guidance
  • increasing tension around feedings
  • a baby only drinks while asleep
  • parents becoming exhausted from feedings
  • difficulty weaning off tube feeding
  • premature babies with feeding problems
  • reflux and feeding stress
  • insufficient progress in previous processes
  • doubt about stress signals or interaction
  • complex cases involving feeding

What I specifically look at

During consultation, I look not only at intake or feeding schedules, but especially at the signals around feeding.

Stress signals

Subtle signs of tension and avoidance during feedings.

Interaction

The dynamics between parent, feeding, and baby during feeding.

Feeding pressure

Patterns of well-intentioned pressure that can increase tension.

For parents and professionals

Consultation is available for parents who are stuck in a process, as well as for healthcare professionals who want to brainstorm about complex cases involving feeding and bottle aversion.

The goal is not to replace previous guidance, but to offer additional observations, insights, and practical tools.
