The Moalie wool Seatpad Universal fits almost any harness system — including strollers and car seats with a fixed 5-point harness, where the shoulder and hip straps cannot be detached from each other. Thanks to the Velcro closure, you can place the pad around the harness system in one go: thread the straps through, close the Velcro, done.
Which Seatpad do I need?
There are two versions of the wool Seatpad:
- Seatpad with strap openings — for strollers and car seats where the harness straps can be detached and threaded through the openings in the pad. View the Seatpad with strap openings here.
- Seatpad Universal — this version fits almost any harness system, including fixed 5-point harnesses. Thanks to the Velcro closure, it is also the quickest to place and move.
If your stroller or car seat has a fixed 5-point harness that cannot be detached, always choose this universal version. Unsure? Look at the shape of your harness system and compare it with the product photos.
Calm for your child, on the go
Babies cannot yet regulate their own body temperature. In a stroller or car seat with synthetic upholstery, they build up heat — they become clammy, start sweating, and get restless. Wool works differently.
Merinowool absorbs moisture without feeling wet, returns warmth when it’s cold, and breathes along when it gets warmer. The Seatpad thus forms a soft, regulating layer between your child and the upholstery of the stroller or car seat — comfortable in both warmer and cooler conditions.
Universal and easy to place in one go
More and more strollers and car seats have a fixed 5-point harness system, where the straps cannot be separated. This version was developed for those strollers but works just as well with harnesses that can be detached.
Thanks to the Velcro construction, you place the pad around the harness system and thread the straps through in one go. No need to detach straps, no hassle. This also makes this version the most convenient choice if you regularly switch the pad between stroller and car seat.
The pad measures 45 × 70 cm and fits in almost every stroller and car seat.

Babies do not yet regulate their own body temperature. In a synthetic seat liner, heat builds up — they become restless, start sweating, and arrive at their destination crying. Wool works differently.

Frequently asked questions
The Wool Seat Pad is 45×70 cm and fits most car seats and strollers. The belt opening at the bottom ensures the straps remain free. Unsure? Measure your seat and compare with the pad’s dimensions. Yes. Synthetic materials insulate but barely breathe. Wool does both: it keeps a baby warm when it’s cool, but breathes along as the temperature rises. Wool regulates in both directions — it’s not an insulating material, but a breathable fiber. In summer, it keeps your baby cooler than synthetic foam or polyester. Wool is naturally self-cleaning and odor-resistant. Airing after use is often enough. For stains: use the wool program at max. 30°C or hand wash with a mild wool detergent. Dry flat, never tumble dry. Yes. The belt opening is specifically designed to allow safety harnesses to pass through unhindered. FAQs
From birth. Merinowool is suitable for newborns, including premature babies, provided the fibres are fine enough and the garment fits well without tight elastics or pressure points.
Yes. That is one of the key strengths of merino wool. The fibre can absorb up to approximately 35 percent of its own weight in moisture without feeling wet. The moisture is drawn away from the skin and released again through evaporation. As a result, the skin stays drier than with cotton or synthetic fabrics.
With merino wool, the fibre thickness says a lot about comfort. It is expressed in microns: the lower the number, the finer and softer the wool feels. For babies, fibres of approximately 15 to 19 microns are generally used.
For Moalie products, we select only fine merino wool that is gentle on sensitive baby skin.
It depends on the situation. Cotton is comfortable in warm temperatures and is often more affordable. Merinowool naturally regulates temperature and wicks away moisture. This makes it particularly suitable during the first few months, while sleeping, and in changing temperatures. Many parents combine both materials.
Merinowool can shrink if it is not washed properly. Therefore, we recommend hand-washing merino wool garments with a special wool detergent and cold or lukewarm water. Not every washing machine has a reliable wool cycle. Afterwards, lay the garment flat to dry so that it retains its shape.

Why merino wool is so well suited for babies
A synthetic liner insulates. Wool regulates. Merinowool absorbs moisture without feeling wet, breathes with your baby's temperature, and remains soft against the skin — whether your baby is in the car seat, riding in the stroller, or resting in the rocker.
That difference is small when you describe it. You feel it immediately.
Why wool under your baby
Babies regulate their body temperature incompletely during the first months. They have no control over how warm or cool they are — and they cannot communicate it either. A synthetic liner traps heat, holds moisture, and gives nothing back.
Merinowool works differently. The fiber absorbs moisture from the environment and releases it gradually — it feels dry, even when your baby sweats. In a heated car or a closed stroller, this makes a noticeable difference in calmness.
After years in neonatology, I know how sensitive newborn babies are to temperature fluctuations. A good liner is not a luxury — it is simply part of properly caring for your child.
Artisanally made in Europe
Moalie's wool liners are made in a family business within the EU. Not mass-produced, but crafted with care. You see it in the fit and finish — and you feel it in how the fabric behaves after washing.
Suitable for car seat and stroller
The liner fits in almost every car seat and stroller. The belt opening leaves the harness free — safety remains unchanged, comfort improves. At home in the rocker or on the changing table, it works exactly the same.
