Daniëlle Kempers — neonatal nurse & baby coach

Daniëlle Kempers is a neonatal nurse and baby coach with over 28 years of experience caring for newborn babies.

She is the founder of the Dutch baby brand Moalie, where healthcare knowledge and high-quality natural materials come together.

Her work has always focused on one question: what does a baby truly need to feel safe and comfortable in the first, vulnerable stage of life?

That experience forms the foundation of Moalie today.

Experience in Neonatology

Throughout her career, Daniëlle worked for many years in neonatology, where she cared daily for newborns, premature babies, and infants with complex care needs. In this environment, it became clear how crucial calm, temperature, closeness, and soft materials are for a baby’s well-being and development.

Especially with the very smallest, you see how sensitive a baby is to stimuli, temperature changes, and materials worn directly on the skin.

That knowledge is reflected in the choices Moalie makes today.

Specialization in Baby Behavior and Feeding Issues

Alongside her clinical work, Daniëlle further specialized in baby behavior, sensory processing, and feeding problems in young infants. She completed various trainings and is recognized as a Happiest Baby Trainer, among other qualifications.

Over the years, she has provided training and continuing education to, among others:

  • maternity care assistants and birth care professionals
  • nurses within youth healthcare (JGZ)
  • hospitals and pediatric departments

She was also regularly consulted when extra expertise was needed for crying babies, sleep problems, or feeding issues such as bottle refusal and bottle aversion.

From Healthcare Practice to Moalie

In her work with babies, Daniëlle saw daily how important comfort, temperature regulation, and soft materials are for a newborn.

Many baby products are designed from a fashion or marketing perspective. Moalie starts from a different idea: what does a baby need to feel comfortable and secure?

That is why Moalie works with natural materials such as merino wool and cashmere — materials that are soft, breathable, and help keep a baby’s body temperature stable.

Sharing Knowledge with Parents

In addition to baby clothing and knitwear, Daniëlle also develops practical guides and e-books for parents. These arose from questions she has heard for years in her work:

  • Is this normal for my baby?
  • Why does my baby cry so much?
  • How do I recognize overstimulation?
  • What can I do if my baby refuses the bottle?

By making knowledge accessible, she helps parents gain more confidence in their own instincts and better understand their baby.

Recognition of Moalie

The combination of healthcare knowledge, natural materials, and thoughtful design has not gone unnoticed. Moalie has been featured in multiple editions of British Vogue and was visible at the international children’s clothing fair Pitti Bimbo in Florence.

For Daniëlle, these are not endpoints but confirmations that healthcare knowledge and design can strengthen each other.

Connected with Moalie

All Moalie products are developed from the same conviction: a baby deserves calm, comfort, and materials that support the sensitive skin rather than burden it.

From merino wool hats and booties to blankets and knitwear — every product is designed with practical knowledge.
