De meeste ouders twijfelen op een dag over hetzelfde: heeft hij het nu te warm, of juist te koud? Je voelt in het nekje, je trekt een laagje uit, en een half uur later weer aan. Een baby regelt zijn temperatuur nog niet zelf — dat doen wij, met wat we aantrekken.

Dit gilet neemt dat werk grotendeels over. Merinowol reageert op wat er nodig is: bij warmte voert het vocht af, bij afkoeling houdt het de warmte vast. Niet omdat het dik is, maar omdat de vezel zo werkt. Het resultaat merk je vooral aan je baby — minder onrustig wakker worden, minder klamme rug, minder in en uit kleden.

Zonder mouwen, met opzet

De armen blijven vrij. Dat is prettig voor een baby die net begint te grijpen, en het scheelt gedoe bij het aan- en uitkleden. Het gilet gaat over een romper, een bodysuit of een pyjama en houdt precies dat deel warm dat het snelst afkoelt: de rug en de borst.

De sluiting is één houten knoop met een lus. Geen rits langs de kin, geen rij drukkers waar je met een spartelend kindje doorheen moet.

Het beertje

De applicatie zetten we zelf op ieder gilet — stuk voor stuk, met de hand. Daardoor zit het beertje nergens precies hetzelfde.

Veelgestelde vragen

Prikt merinowol niet bij een gevoelige huid?
Merinovezels zijn dunner dan 20 micron — fijn genoeg om niet te prikken, ook niet bij een gevoelige huid. Ze buigen mee met de huid in plaats van ertegen in te drukken. Heeft je baby eerder gereageerd op wol, dan is merinowol doorgaans de uitzondering die wél wordt verdragen. Bij twijfel: laat het gilet een uurtje aanzitten en controleer daarna de huid.

Wat is RWS-certificering?
RWS staat voor Responsible Wool Standard — een onafhankelijke certificering die controleert of de wol afkomstig is van schapen die goed behandeld worden en van boerderijen die zorgvuldig omgaan met land en natuur. Voor Moalie is dat geen marketingterm, maar een minimale voorwaarde.

Is wol niet te warm voor binnen?
Merinowol werkt twee kanten op. Binnenshuis voert het vocht af en voorkomt het dat je kindje klam wordt. Juist bij wisselende binnentemperaturen is het prettiger dan een fleece of een dikke trui.

Kan merinowol ook in de zomer?
Ja. Merinowol is geen winterstof — het reguleert in beide richtingen. In de zomer voert de stof vocht af en houdt het de huid droog. Het gilet kan als licht laagje dienstdoen op koelere avonden of in gekoelde ruimtes.

Welke maat kies ik?
Het gilet valt normaal en heeft ruimte voor een laagje eronder. Zit je kindje tussen twee maten in, kies dan de grotere — een gilet mag ruim zitten en je doet er dan langer mee. Maat 98/104 heeft zakken.
