Is a cuddle cloth safe for a newborn baby?

Cotton is one of the safest materials for newborns: it is breathable, free of synthetic fibers, and gentle on the skin. Always make sure your baby's face remains uncovered during sleep and keep the cloth out of the crib until your baby is old enough to handle it safely.

When can I start introducing a cuddle cloth?

You can introduce the cloth from birth by carrying it with you and letting your baby smell and feel it during awake moments. The earlier the association is made, the stronger the effect as a transitional object.

Can I buy multiple cloths as a backup?

That's an excellent idea. Many parents buy two identical cloths so there is always a washed spare. Alternate them regularly so both have the same scent and wear.

How do I wash the cloth without losing the scent?

Wash at 30°C with a mild detergent. After washing, you can carry the cloth with you again overnight so it absorbs your scent before giving it back to your baby.

That's why I deliberately chose muslin cotton when designing our cuddle cloths. A material that's light, breathable, and feels wonderful against baby's sensitive skin. No unnecessary details, just peace and simplicity.

Merino wool is self-cleaning and doesn't need frequent washing. If it is necessary, hand wash it and let it dry flat. (Read our blog post about washing wool here .)
