The small object that brings great calm

Somewhere in the first weeks after birth you discover it: your baby is calmest when close to you. Your scent, your warmth, the familiarity of your presence: that is what comforts. But you can't always be right there. And that is exactly why a comforter is so valuable.

A comforter is what child psychologists call a transitional object: something tangible that stands for a parent's safety at moments when the parent isn't there. It helps babies make the move from your arms to the cot, the pram or daycare a little softer. Not as a replacement for you, but as a small bridge.

The Cuddle Fox in pink is knitted from 100% cotton. The fine knitted texture invites little hands to grasp and feel, which is naturally calming for young babies.

Tip for parents: give the comforter your scent

Keep the comforter close to you for a few hours before giving it to your baby, for example under your clothes or next to your pillow. The cotton takes on your scent. For your baby, that scent is the strongest signal of safety there is. A comforter that smells of you feels like a soft hug, even when you're not nearby.

Frequently asked questions

Is a comforter safe for a newborn baby?

Cotton is one of the safest materials for newborns: breathable, free of synthetic fibres and gentle on the skin. Always make sure your baby's face stays free during sleep, and keep the comforter out of the cot until your baby is old enough to handle it themselves.

When can I introduce a comforter?

You can introduce it from birth by carrying it with you and letting your baby smell and feel it during awake moments. The earlier the association is made, the stronger it works as a transitional object.

Can I buy a spare?

That's a good idea. Many parents buy two identical comforters so there is always a clean spare. Swap them regularly so both carry the same scent and wear.

How do I wash it without losing the scent?

Wash at 30°C with a mild detergent. Afterwards, keep the comforter with you for a night so it takes on your scent again before you give it back to your baby.

Is this comforter a good baby gift?

Absolutely. The Cuddle Fox is a thoughtful gift that actually gets used, not just kept. Choose gift wrapping at checkout and we'll wrap it beautifully for you.

A conscious choice for peace

Founders' Note

As a neonatal nurse, I've witnessed firsthand for years how important gentleness and familiarity are for babies. Even the smallest things can mean a lot: a familiar scent, a soft fabric, a cloth that always feels the same.

That's why I deliberately chose muslin cotton when designing our cuddle cloths. A material that's light, breathable, and feels wonderful against baby's sensitive skin. No unnecessary details, just peace and simplicity.

A cuddle cloth is often more than just an accessory. It can offer comfort, help you relax, and create a sense of security—at home, on the go, or in a new place. That's exactly what I want to offer with Moalie: products that not only look beautiful but also truly mean something in everyday life with a baby.
