Most parents wonder about the same thing at some point: is he too warm now, or actually too cold? You feel his neck, take off a layer, and half an hour later put it back on again. A baby cannot regulate their temperature yet — we do that with what we dress them in.

This vest takes most of that work off your hands. Merinowool responds to what is needed: when it is warm, it wicks away moisture; when it cools down, it retains warmth. Not because it is thick, but because that is how the fibre works. You notice the result mainly in your baby — less restless waking, fewer clammy backs, less dressing and undressing.

Sleeveless by design

The arms remain free. That is comfortable for a baby who is just starting to grasp, and it makes dressing and undressing easier. The vest goes over a sleepsuit, bodysuit or pyjamas and keeps warm exactly the part that cools down fastest: the back and chest.

The fastening is one wooden button with a loop. No zip along the chin, no row of snaps to work through with a wriggling little one.

The little bear

We attach the appliqué ourselves to every vest — one by one, by hand. That means the little bear is never positioned exactly the same way.

Frequently asked questions

Does Merinowool itch on sensitive skin?
Merino fibres are thinner than 20 microns — fine enough not to itch, even on sensitive skin. They bend with the skin rather than pressing against it. If your baby has reacted to wool before, Merinowool is generally the exception that is well tolerated. If in doubt, leave the vest on for an hour and check the skin afterwards.

What is RWS certification?
RWS stands for Responsible Wool Standard — an independent certification that checks whether the wool comes from sheep that are treated well and from farms that care responsibly for the land and nature. For Moalie, this is not a marketing term, but a minimum requirement.

Is wool not too warm indoors?
Merinowool works both ways. Indoors, it wicks away moisture and prevents your little one from becoming clammy. Especially when indoor temperatures fluctuate, it is more comfortable than fleece or a thick jumper.

Can Merinowool also be worn in summer?
Yes. Merinowool is not a winter-only fabric — it regulates in both directions. In summer, the fabric wicks away moisture and keeps the skin dry. The vest can serve as a light layer on cooler evenings or in air-conditioned spaces.

Which size should I choose?
The vest is true to size and has room for a layer underneath. If your little one is between two sizes, choose the larger one — a vest can be worn generously and will last longer. Size 98/104 has pockets.
