"I wanted to design baby clothes that not only look beautiful but also feel comfortable. That became Moalie"

— Danielle, NICU nurse

Doesn’t the little hat keep slipping off?

No. It gently hugs the head and stays in place. Around four to six weeks, most babies outgrow it in size.

Can my baby sleep in it?

Not indoors. Babies lose a great deal of heat through their heads, and wearing a hat can make them too warm. Remove the hat when your baby sleeps indoors, and use it outdoors or in a cool room.

Isn’t cotton too thin for a newborn?

No. Cotton provides enough warmth during the first few weeks without causing your baby to overheat. If it’s cold outside, choose a wool hat.

Can I take this hat to the hospital?

Yes. It’s lightweight and compact, so it fits easily in your hospital bag. Check in advance whether you’re allowed to use your own hat on that ward.

How do I know whether my baby is warm enough?

Feel the back of the neck or between the shoulder blades, not the hands or feet. These almost always feel cooler on a newborn, even when the rest of the body is comfortably warm.

Hand-wash in lukewarm water with a mild, fragrance-free detergent. Gently squeeze out excess water; do not wring, and dry flat away from direct sunlight. Do not use fabric softener or tumble-dry.

In the first hours after birth, keeping warm is the top priority. A newborn baby cannot regulate their temperature well yet — they need to receive that warmth from outside. And more than a third of heat loss occurs through the head.

That’s what this little hat is for. Soft cotton that feels comfortable right after birth.

Cotton for the first weeks

Cotton feels soft, breathes well, and provides warmth without too much insulation — exactly what a newborn needs in the first days. The hat is thin enough for any environment, whether the maternity room is warmer or cooler.

Size

This little hat fits well and stays in place without feeling tight. Around week 4, most babies outgrow it in circumference — until then, it is ideal.

Frequently asked questions

Does the hat keep slipping off?

No. It fits comfortably around the head and stays in place. Around week 4, your baby will outgrow it in circumference.

Isn’t cotton too thin?

No. Cotton provides enough warmth for the first weeks without making your baby too hot. It is specifically designed for those first days at home or in the hospital.

What if my baby doesn’t like wearing something on their head?

Many newborns protest when wearing a hat. That is normal. Put the hat on immediately after birth, while your baby is still calmer. A hat that fits well and feels soft can help.

How long will my baby wear this hat?

This is a hat for the first weeks. Around week 4–6, most babies outgrow it in circumference. After that, you can still use it when it is cool outside, but it will no longer fit optimally.

Can I use this hat in the hospital?

Yes. This hat is perfect to take with you to maternity care or the hospital. Check in advance whether you are allowed to bring your own hat — many departments now request this.
